Religion leads today's Digest.

We'll start with the presidential race.

A new poll by a Christian polling and research firm said Democrat Barack Obama is leading among Christians. Republican John McCain leads among evangelicals but it's a small lead.

The editor of Beliefnet quotes some religious scholars who believe McCain's latest web ad may be suggesting that Obama is the antichrist. He says it may be stoking fears among evangelicals. Read the story here.

The Wall Street Journal says voting registration is the new battleground.

A leading Republican moderate backs Obama. It's part of the Republicans for Obama initiative.

Obama's Minnesota campaign is aggressively targeting undecided voters.

Some sportsmen say they'll back Barack Obama.

Congress

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seems open to some drilling. The GOP including Rep. John Kline dismiss Pelosi's stance mostly because Pelosi is looking to load up the bill.

The Star Tribune also picks up week two of the protest.

Americans, however, may be less gloomy about the price of gasoline.

DFL Rep. Collin Peterson will take a barge tour to tout the importance of the Ohio River.

City

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman releases his budget. The Star Tribune, MPR and the Pi Press have stories.

2008 RNC

The theme for the RNC will be "Putting Country first."

MPR says companies are spending millions to fund the conventions.

St. Paul police are ramping up security and will be using video monitoring for security.

Yeah, the $600 rent is old news, but it gets more into the Congressional Gift Ban as well as ties to FLS.
