L.A. Times: Ron Paul supporters plot a convention revolt

Posted at 2:53 PM on May 12, 2008 by Tom Scheck (7 Comments)

There's been a lot of discussion regarding Ron Paul supporters winning delegate seats to the Republican National Convention. MinnPost, the Star Tribune and WorldNetDaily all wrote about those efforts.

The Los Angeles Times says it may be a national effort by the Ron Paul forces.

Question of the Day: What impact does this have on a McCain candidacy?

If Dr. Paul is the Elijah or a forerunner of such. so be it. The Lord will work out the details. The bankers may not like it but that's the way it is. Andrew Jackson had a similar experience in 1835.

If the message of smaller Government doesn't win this time around it will only grow stronger and win majority sometime in the future. Current policies are unsustainable and when people realize they will be ready for change.

To a large extent Ron Paul's message has been misunderstood. And for good reason, since it is complicated and also very different from most of what we normally hear.

It is often presented as "follow the Constitution", "freedom" and "small Government" but what does this really mean?

Through history there are countless examples of big Governments abusing power. "Power corrupts" as they say. Nazi Germany (a democracy), Mao's China, The Soviet Union and Mugabe's Zimbabwe to name a few.

Our most important responsibility as citizens is to know what our Government is doing and make sure no abuse of power takes place.

It is important that we keep up the debate about the role of our Government regardless of whether we as individuals believe it should be bigger or smaller. Letting Government grow and slowly letting it increase it's powers without openness, visibility, accountability, and involvement of the people is a formula for disaster as history has proven again and again.

How does following state GOP rules mean revolt?

The truth is Mccain is the true 3rd party candidate who is going to split the conservative vote. Mccain needs to start a neo-colonialist/ global welfarist party since he has so furiously rejected republicanism. He is pretty anti-American and he is unfit to lead, how can any sane person take him seriously. He is completely clueless on terrorism and the fact of Bin Laden using US military presence as a recruitment tool. Why would he want to continue giving Al Qaeda cult status and more members? The republican party must unite for Barr to keep a fringe lunatic like Mccain away from anything that resembles power.

GOP is doomed with McCain posing as the representative of conservatives. This is the result of ex-democrat (neocon) infestation of our party. Who would have thought a GOP nominee will be holding Al Gore's position on Global Warming...wake up and get back to our original principles, small government, no income tax, less regulations, humble foreign policy, No federal mandate on abortion, NO AMNESTY, sound money, protect our freedoms and civil liberties...

I think you should rename this blog to "Paulinauht". Exploring the Universe of Doctor Paul.

Did I reveal myself as Paul-lover?
