AP says DFL Sen. Tom Bakk filed the paperwork for a potential run for governor:
ST. PAUL (AP) - Minnesota Senator Tom Bakk says he is
exploring a run for governor in 2010.
Bakk, a Democrat, says he plans to test his appeal at next
week's state DFL convention in Rochester.
He says he will decide by the end of the year whether he can
raise enough money and attract the statewide support he would need
to mount a credible campaign. If he runs, the senator from Cook
would have to give up his state Senate seat and an influential
position as head of the Senate Taxes Committee.
Bakk is the second Democrat to file paperwork for a potential
gubernatorial campaign, after Ramsey County Attorney Susan
Gaertner. Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty hasn't said whether he
will seek a third term.

Question of the Day:How many Democrats will run for governor in 2010?

Bakk is a hopeless Iron Range labor hack. He'll get the support of unions and a few Jackpine Savage nutjobs like Tommy Rukavina. Maybe Polaris. Run, Tom, run, so we can get your tired fat *** out of the legislature.
George, do you actually think a Republican would win Bakk's seat if he didn't run? Get real that seat will always be DFL!
As for Bakk, I can't see him pulling together a coalition to win the endorsement. He's a regional candidate and I don't know what appeal he has to urban and suburban DFLers.
