Governor Pawlenty appointed a 15 member commission to come up with ideas to reform the state's tax laws. At least a third of the members donated to Governor Pawlenty's political campaigns. Another is a former Republican state senator, four (three who didn't donate to Pawlenty) work for companies that are members of the Pawlenty friendly Minnesota Business Partnership and a representative from a high tech trade group. A member of the think tank, Minnesota Taxpayers Association is also on the board.
The feature examines statements made by Minnesota politicians and checks them for accuracy. Based on data analysis, document reviews and interviews with non-partisan analysts, statements are rated either true, false or inconclusive. PoliGraph is a collaboration between Minnesota Public Radio News and the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
