The chair of the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Policy and Finance Division was critical of Gov. Pawlenty's budget request. DFL Rep. Tom Rukavina, who never misses a chance to take a shot at Gov. Pawlenty, told the committee that the governor's budget proposal is unacceptable because it would hike tuition costs. Rukavina also complained the rich people weren't paying enough taxes while college students were expected to sacrifice.
Rukavina then welcomed the well dressed University of Minnesota President Bob Bruininks to the committee with this comment:
"Nice Suit."
