Gov. Pawlenty will give his state of the state speech in St. Cloud on February 13th.

Pawlenty appears at a Medtronic opener and is scheduled to attend a funeral for a fallen soldier. Pawlenty heads to Michigan tonight to campaign for John McCain.

It may be hard for Gov. Pawlenty and state lawmakers to reach agreement on taxes and transportation policy. Pawlenty and legislative leaders talked about the upcoming session at an AP preview. The Star Tribune, KTTC and AP have stories.

Forum Communications says the odds of major property tax relief are falling. But DFL lawmakers aren't backing down and propose property tax relief. Some suburbs are also calling for a different LGA formula.

And there's that entire transportation thing.

School districts are also talking education funding with lawmakers.

Attorney General Lori Swanson joins the greenhouse gas emissions lawsuit.

Congress

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman holds a hearing on health care costs for the business.

He also wants to stop filling the strategic petroleum reserve.

Coleman is also mentioned in this story saying travelers to Canada and Mexico can apply for passport cards next month.

Rachel Paulose will make her same salary in her new role as she did as U.S. Attorney - $149,000.

DFL Sen, Amy Klobuchar says quick action on the Farm Bill is needed but others think it could face tough sledding.

Federal energy funds are also released. Klobuchar and Coleman are mentioned.

DFL Rep. Jim Oberstar says the Cass County hospital is on his agenda.

2008

The DFL candidates for Senate will meet at a debate in Mower County on 1/19.
