DFL Reps. Tim Walz and Keith Ellison appeared on Midday this morning. You can listen to the show here. GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann was also invited but she declined to participate. Bachmann did provide a comment to another outlet regarding the energy bill. AP picks up the story:

Bachmann says she doesn't like new energy law

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush signed the energy bill this week, but Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota says there's a lot she doesn't like about the new law.
The 6th District representative says the bill doesn't contain any new energy. She says while the bill focuses on increased use of biofuels to replace petroleum, she would have liked to encourage more exploration for oil in gas in the U.S.
With the price of crude oil nearly doubling since the start of 2007, Bachmann says the U.S. needs to look for more oil within it's own borders.
Bachmann also thinks new mileage restrictions are too tough on the struggling U.S. auto industry. The law calls for a 40 percent increase in the average amount of miles-per-gallon delivered by cars and trucks produced in the U.S. -- to 35 mpg by 2025.

May I remind Congresswoman Bachmann that the definition of insanity is doning the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Also something for you to contemplate. When your buddy Bush took office the price of a gallon of gas was $1.64 national average. In addition, the price of a barrel of oil has increased about 300%.

Boy, that AP writer doesn't go in much for "style," does he? And that's not really news, Bachmann versus the environment, that's kind of taken for granted by people who follow her career. But at least she's talking to reporters again. (Sorry she stood you guys at MPR up. It was priceless when you interviewed her in 2005 and she said we had to keep the "nuclear option" on the table with Iran.)

Speaking of Bachmann, is it too late to submit an entry for Minnesota politics quotes of the year?

This one's from the podcast interview she did with Larry Schumacher of the St. Cloud Times earlier this year.

"They aren’t- this isn’t like Bosnia where you had enemies that had happen over millennia; these aren’t enemies for millennia."--Freshman Congresswoman Michele Bachmann explains her take on the 1300 year old Sunni-Shi-ite split.

How many times has Bachmann refused to appear on MPR since being elected or cancelled at the last minute? Has she ever appeared on MPR when she had to take callers? Why would MPR give her any free air time to spew her ignorance? Or was it just to make her sound as stuipid as she is?

Congresswoman Bachmann also did not accept an invitation to appear at the HHH Institute of Public Affairs in a public forum.

All the MN federal officials were invited, and 7 of 10 accepted.

Public forums were held with Senators Klobuchar and Coleman, and Representatives Walz, Ellison, McCollum, Oberstar and Ramstad.
