The Digest has a special planes, trains and automobiles feel to it today. Minnesota disciplines three MnDOT employees who supervised an emergency manager who is alleged to spend state money on personal travel. MPR, the Star Tribune, the Pi Press, AP and Forum Communications have stories.
The feds are expected to deliver a check today for the Northstar Commuter Rail line.
A special panel of state lawmakers gave MnDOT an extra $30 million to build the bridge. MnDOT folks say it's not enough and threaten to delay other projects.
Transportation Commissioner Carol Molnau defends her decision to delay the Wakota Bridge to seek new bids.
The Star Tribune says the statewide smoking ban is prompting more smokers to quit.
Medicaid cuts will have an impact on counties.
Congress
GOP Sen. Norm Coleman and DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar split their trade on the Peru Free Trade amendment (it passed). Coleman voted for it. Klobuchar against.
Coleman is one of several senators who want Libya to fully compensate US victims of "Libyan terrorism."
Reuters also writes about Coleman's proposal to allow some to withdrawal their retirement accounts at no penalty to pay their mortgages.
Forum Communications and AP say Klobuchar faces an uphill battle to block farm subsidies for the wealthy.
An Iowa Congressman will push for official recognition of Christmas in the U.S. House. DFL Rep. Keith Ellison is mentioned.
GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann celebrates Anoka County's sesquicentennial.
Eric Black says there was a shakeup in Bachmann's office.

CQ says rates Minnesota's 3rd as no clear favorite.
The Rochester Post-Bulletin wonders if the field of GOP candidates running in Minnesota's 1st will get smaller. Two of the candidates hold a joint newser today.
