Minnesota U.S. Attorney Rachel Paulose is leaving her post and taking a job at the Justice Department in Washington D.C. She didn't offer a reason why but plenty of people say another set of supervisors in the Minneapolis office were getting ready to resign. MPR, the Star Tribune, the AP, the New York Times, the Pi Press and KARE-11 have stories.

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman and DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar support her departure.

The Star Tribune offers reaction from Minnesota's Congressional delegation.

Politics could also slow the nomination of the next U.S. Attorney.

Paulose was scheduled to speak to the U of M's Humphrey School today but that lecture has been postponed.

State Government

Minnesota law won't allow the neuter commuter to fix pets for free.

An order shifts responsibility of Minnesota's Veterans Homes. The Star Tribune's Warren Wolf owns this story so read this one so you can save time making the Thanksgiving stuffing.

Gov. Pawlenty also talks up the U of M Rochester in Rochester.

Congress

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman wants to speed up help on housing. The Star Tribune and AP have stories.

The Pi Press says every politician is looking for housing answers.

The Hill says a stalled Farm Bill doesn't help Coleman's attempts to sweeten his relationship with the state's sugar beet growers (especially since he voted for CAFTA).

Politico says retirements (like Jim Ramstad's) is pushing the GOP to the right.

Security funding for the GOP and Democratic Conventions is stalled in Congress. DFL Rep. Betty McCollum will send a letter to House leadership on the issue. It's signed by Minnesota's entire Congressional delegation sans GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann.

DFL Rep. Collin Peterson will discuss the Farm Bill in Thief River Falls next Monday.

The U.S. Forest Service will extend logging contracts in national forests. DFL Rep. Jim Oberstar is mentioned.

Oberstar also defends his position on the Delta Queen.

The New York Times gets reaction from those who are upset about the decision to close Norway's consulate in Minneapolis.

2008

AFSCME backs Al Franken for Senate.

The Mesabi Daily News writes about one of Franken's DFL opponents, Mike Ciresi.

Ollie Ox, with A Blue Stem Prairie, says GOP State Sen. Dick Day visited the Minutemen Operation in Arizona. Day is a Republican running for Congress against DFL Rep. Tim Walz.

KSTP says social networking sites have become a political battleground.

Finally

The Digest is taking a break until next Monday. Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
