MnDOT signs a contract to rebuild the I-35W bridge. The bridge design is also released. MPR, the Star Tribune, the Pi Press, WCCO, KARE-11 and AP have stories.

The move comes after the Department of Administration rejects a protest by the losing bidders. The attorney representing the contractors says a lawsuit is possible.

A special panel of state lawmakers will meet again to discuss a request to authorize $195 million in state money for the bridge. The Star Tribune says Minnesota has passed on federal bridge aid since 2003.

Gov. Pawlenty appoints a judge.

He also visited flood damaged homes in Owatonna.

Meanwhile, flood victims in Rushford are complaining about the strings attached to state and federal aid.
