The Daily Digest apologizes for today's lateness. MPR had some website problems today. I wish we could tell you that the tardiness meant a bigger news nugget for digest readers but that isn't the case. Anyway, here we go.

A bridge survivor vents her frustration to the Star Tribune.

The Mankato Free Press says south central Minnesota will be the biggest loser if MnDOT is forced to cut road projects. I thought MnDOT said the metro area will get whacked the hardest.

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman makes a stop in Marshall and pushes for a greater investment in all types of infrastructure. The Marshall Independent and Forum Communications have stories.

Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Sam Hanson is stepping down from the bench (full disclosure - Hanson officiated my wedding).

The New York Times says Minesota's gift ban on doctors could gain traction elsewhere.

Minneapolis won't challenge the photocop refund ruling.

Congress

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman says the money is coming through for the Northstar Commuter Rail line.

MPR has a story saying groups are targeting GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann over SCHIP.

CQ says Republicans are trying to force Democrats (like DFL Rep. Tim Walz) to take tough votes. Walz could whacked on his immigration votes.

DFL Rep. Collin Peterson says ag producers are concerned about labor availability.

The ethanol industry is bracing for tough times.

Coleman says health care will dominate the elections.

The folks at Midmorning have discovered -- and passed along to me -- a blog in Denver dedicated to factoids surrounding the Democratic National Convention.

Has anyone found one like that in Minnesota for the GOP confab; preferably one not run by a political party?
