Gov. Pawlenty officially becomes the chair of the National Governor's Association today. He tells the Pioneer Press that he will focus on clean energy during his year long term.

AP and the Star Tribune focus on Pawlenty's rise.

Pawlenty officially becomes chair of the NGA

Gov. Pawlenty has now stepped into his role as chair of the National Governors Association. He's the first Minnesotan to lead the organization since Harold Stassen. AP has a story. Here's an interview that MPR's Tom Crann did with Pawlenty earlier this morning. Pawlenty, a Republican, will be chair for one year. Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, a Democrat, will become chair next year.
