The digest is looking for some political news. Anyone out there got some news? Anything? Hello? Ok, we'll try to dig something up on our own. Here's the bare bones rundown for the day.

WW2 vets coming to the Minnesota State Capitol this weekend.

The U of M may end a tuition reciprocity agreement with Wisconsin. The Star Tribune and AP have stories.

The state has to study whether to use an open document format is mentioned in this story that says Microsoft is defeating such efforts nationwide.

Pawlenty was on MPR's Midday program yesterday. Listen here.

The Wall Street Journal calls Pawlenty "Governor Veto" and says he's getting more popular among his core supporters.

The Timberjay says the legislative inaction means nursing homes and transportation will suffer.

But MPR says Minnesota is not alone with transportation funding problems.

GOP Rep. Mark Olson's trial date has been pushed back one week.

Congress

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman is one of several senators calling for better reporting of stock options.

Politico says watchdogs are targeting lawmakers during the break.

DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar talks policy with the ECM Editorial Board.

DFL Rep. Collin Peterson says everyone will be "equally unhappy" with the farm bill.

2008

The St. Cloud Times has a story saying St. Cloud banker Bob Olson will run for U.S. Senate. He is announcing at 10 this morning.

A Blue Stem Prairie says AFSCME put an ad on YouTube on behalf of DFL Rep. Tim Walz.

2008 RNC

The Star Tribune and the Denver Post say Denver and the Twin Cities may join forces to raise money for the national conventions. The first question should be "Does anyone have $39 million dollars that they don't need for about a year?"

Blog Watch

Eric Black joins Minnesota Monitor.

MDE also says Broom or McBroom or Wellstone will run for U.S. Senate.

Other

Former President Bill Clinton will be in Minneapolis later this month.

My all time favorite sports columnist comes out of retirement to write a column on Howard Porter.
