It's so quiet on the political front that we're leading with Friday's story today. Gov. Pawlenty is keeping the door open just a sliver on the prospects of a special session. The Star Tribune and AP have stories.

Pawlenty and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman trade barbs over state aid.

Pawlenty will be on MPR's Midday today at 11.

A new state law will require hospitals to reveal infection rates.

The Pi Press says this lawyer is a go to guy for lawyers in hot water.

The St. Cloud Times says GOP Rep. Mark Olson's trial has been put on hold again and he's getting divorced.

Matthew Continetti writes a glowing op-ed on Pawlenty.

Congress

Police chiefs concerned about gun violence turn to Chaska Police Chief Scott Knight as its spokesman. GOP Rep. John Kline is mentioned but refuses to be interviewed.

NPR has a story on DFL Rep. Tim Walz and his decision to vote for the Iraq war funding bill.

The farm bill debate is focusing on cash. The dairy support system is not in the first version of the bill. DFL Rep. Collin Peterson is mentioned in both stories.

Duluth freed from Northwest Airlines debt. DFL Rep. Jim Oberstar is mentioned.

2008

DFL Rep. Joe Atkins says he will not run for the U.S. Senate.

A slate of GOP Senators (including Norm Coleman) will be in Houston this week to shake the Texas money trees.

Hillary Clinton stops in Minneapolis to talk health care and raise money. The Star Tribune and AP have stories.

Other

The Star Tribune says internal complaints are roiling the MNGOP office.

City Pages has a list of the Strib staffers taking buyouts. I'm sad to say there are a lot of good journalists on this list. Good luck to them.

The MILC dairy program was part of the Iraq War supplemental and thus has been approved and signed into law by the President.
