DFL Rep. Betty McCollum is backing Mike Ciresi for Senate. In a letter, McCollum writes:
"Your experience, professional record of accomplishment and proven commitment to fight for justice is needed more than ever in Washington to heal the damage done to our democracy by the White House."
A press release says McCollum and Ciresi will make their first campaign appearance together at the Cinco de Mayo parade in St. Paul. Ciresi and Al Franken are seeking the DFL endorsement for U.S. Senate. GOP Sen. Norm Coleman is running for reelection.

Why isn;t this on the MPR main page? Sounds like big news to me?
Finally ! We have a public statement from an elected official giving her endorsement for someone who can defeat Coleman for US Senate . My opinion is that it is of the utmost importance to defeat the GOP and Coleman no matter what he does in September in the Senate to question Bush's nonpolicy in Iraq . I hope we see more of this no matter which DFL candidate is endorsed as we need to put our priorities straight , and keep our eyes on the prize...not give the election to the republicans because of infighting . Still, I want Franken to get the nod, but if he dosen't, I want Coleman and the GOP O U T .
