The Digest is back from vacation and is trying to shake some of the rust off. I'll just give you some of the highlights from the last few days while we catch up. State lawmakers return to work on Tuesday. The Star Tribune and the Pi Press say DFLers and Gov. Pawlenty are on a collision course on taxes and spending.

Congress
The U.S. Senate returns this week and takes up stem cells. GOP Senator Norm Coleman has a proposal on the table.

DFL Rep. Betty McCollum will visit attend a troop sendoff (along with Gov. Pawlenty).
DFL Rep. Keith Ellison says Israel has no plans to attack Syria.
GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann's top aide leaves for another job.
2008
The Washington Post says Al Franken can raise the dough.
A New Hampshire blogger says Governor Pawlenty is headed to New Hampshire to campaign for Arizona Senator John McCain.
Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner files the paperwork to run for governor.
