Poll has Bachmann ahead

Posted at 6:51 PM on October 25, 2006 by Bob Collins (1 Comments)

By way of MDE, Survey USA has Bachmann up by 6-percent. The lead had been greater a few months ago, then narrowed last month.

Here's the cutout.

Survey USA also has Klobuchar maintaining her big lead over Mark Kennedy. If you look at that last link -- on Electoral Vote Predictor -- you can see that Survey USA is the one that shows the most volatility in the Senate race. Not sure why that is.

Bachmann's most powerful ally this election cycle is, oddly enough, the local mainstream media. They are resolute in their refusal to acquaint the voters with what Bachmann’s extremism–the lies, the crazy quotes, the bizarre beliefs.

For example, this weekend on David Wheaton’s “Christian Worldview” radio program, Bachmann continued to spread the “dirty bombs planned for NFL stadiums” hoax, two days after the FBI had exposed it as an internet hoax and arrested the perpetrator. Where is the Strib, where is the PiPress, where is MPR to expose Bachmann's attempt to spread a false rumor for political gain? Who will hold her accountable for spreading false rumors of terror in order to win an election–spreading false information about terror in a world in which terror is a very real threat?

What about the outright lie that Bachmann told to an audience of believing Christians–that she had no thought of entering politics, “absolutely none”, until God called her to run for the Minnesota Senate in 2000?
Bachmann had run a vigorous and partisan campaign for local office in Stillwater in 1999 as a GOP-endorsed candidate. The Strib and the PiPress saw the videotape of Bachmann telling this lie in the name of Jesus Christ–where was the reporting?

Examples of Bachmann’s lies and deceptions are endless. Documented examples of Bachmann's lies and extremism have been for months. They simply won’t report them.

If this lying nut goes to Congress to represent us, the political reporters at the Strib, the PiPress and MPR will be largely responsible.
