Debates debates debates

Posted at 11:56 AM on September 15, 2006 by Bob Collins

5th District is just finishing up on Midday today. Usually the audio gets posted on the Midday page within about a half hour (it's automated). I'm going to -- eventually -- get it sliced up to add stuff to the indvididual candidate pages. I haven't heard today's debate so I don't know if it has had enough depth to base a Select A Candidate on it, but I'll check.

Attorney general candidates had their own thing today...

Same deal. Audio will be up soon and Tim Pugmire is filing a story. Eventually I'll get it sliced up and a Select A Candidate built.

No chance both can be accomplished by the end of the day, however.

Let's debate again

Laura McCallum sends a link to a group that's arranging more debates, including the next gubernatorial debate on September 27.

Here it is.

By the way, the audio of the debates I referenced in the previous post are available on the Campaign 2006 site.

Heading into the weekend

It was a busy week and it's only going to get busier as we inch closer to election day. Here's a rundown of the weekend events. Former President Bill Clinton will speak at the DFL Unity Dinner/Fundraiser for Amy Klobuchar on Saturday evening. We'll have a story on the event for Sunday morning.

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be in Rochester on Sunday raising money for GOP incumbent Gil Gutknecht. Gutknecht's DFL challenger, Tim Walz, will also be busy on Sunday. Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha will campaign with Walz. The two are running for Congress in Minnesota's First Congressional District.

Murtha, who is calling for U.S. troops to get out of Iraq, will also appear at a campaign event with DFLer Coleen Rowley. Rowley is running for Congress in Minnesota's Second District against Republican incumbent John Kline.

Finally, Jesse's back! Former Governor Jesse Ventura recorded two radio spots for Peter Hutchinson. Hutchinson, like Ventura, is a member of the Independence Party. You can listen to the two ads here and here.
