Capitol View

Entenza profile and possible opponent

Brian Bakst and Martiga Lohn, with the Associated Press, show that they can turn it with the best of them by burning out a Matt Entenza profile today.

Bakst also has a few interesting nuggets in his update on the Entenza flap. Apparently two domain names involving Bill Luther for Attorney General have been reserved by Luther's former chief of staff. He says it's only precautionary. Let the speculating begin.

Matt Entenza's lies have finally caught up with him. Just keeping count of them this week is a chore. It's a shame the DFL didn't take notice until it was too late. Why didn't anyone challenge him before the endorsement? Who will step up to the plate between now and next Tuesday? Please. Anyone.

Oh, please. So Matt does opposition research, and somehow the GOP gets to make it a weeklong story.

What's more, to hear anyone in the GOP talk about lies these days is rather a stretch given the current foreign policy debacle they've embarked upon, which was founded almost entirely on lies.

But, then again, the GOP usually does OK when they convince the public that everyone does it, everyone is tainted; it drives down turnout, which helps their magnify the importance of their base, who vote much more consistently than the DFL base (except 1998, of course).

And Bill Luther? I don't envy him having had to run in the old 6th CD, but he was one of the most risk averse, typical-politician types we've had in Congress.

Oh, please. This story would have died on the vine had Entenza 1) not lied about having hired the research done; 2) not lied about the extent of research he requested; 3) not lied about the amount he paid for the research; 3) not lied about AARP clearing his name with regard to his wife's stock options; 4) not lied about having done research on others. The simple fact is, Matt Entenza's web of lies has kept this story alive, not the GOP. And it's not just the GOP talking about Entenza's lying. Plenty of other Democrats are sick and tired of Matt Entenza's lying too.

And how does foreign policy figure into this discussion anyway? Trying to change the channel?
