So do we have to sing now?

Rybak and Coleman have put out a release that says their "joint bid" to host the '08 Democratic National Convention , has made the "short list of finalists."

Apparently our competitition now is New York, Denver, and New Orleans.

Given that the odds are high that New Orleans won't survive another 2 hurricane seasons, it is safe to say the competition is New York and Denver.

Is NY really in the running? The RNC was just there in 2004 and the DNC has also been there recently: 1976, 1980, & 1992. It sounds like it's between Minneapolis and Denver.

IMHO, the best way to help New Orleans get back on it's feet and keep the issue in the media spotlight is to have at least one quarterly DNC meeting per year there. It worked in spring of 2006 so why not do this again? Think of it as a progress report on the rebuilding.

If it's singing you want, then we should bid for the 105th session of the United Sacred Harp Musical Association convention, which would be September 13-14, 2008.

I'm still trying to get over the chiffon overdose from the National Squaredancing Convention in St. Paul a couple of years ago.
