Posted at 2:18 PM on May 24, 2006 by Bob Collins (8 Comments)

Someone asked in the comments section for a list of people giving up seats in the House and Senate. Here's the latest list I have.

Republicans
Sen. Bob Kierlin - Winona
Sen Michele Bachmann
Rep. Jeff Johnson - Plymouth
Rep. Jerry Dempsey
Rep.Barb Sykora
Rep.Fran Bradley
Rep. Ron Abrams
Rep. Scott Newman
Rep. Char Samuelson
Rep. Jim Knoblach
Rep. Andy Westerberg
Rep. Ray Vandeveer

Democrats
Sen. Becky Lourey
Sen. John Hottinger
Sen. Sharon Marko
Sen. Jane Ranum
Sen. Wes Skoglund
Sen. Sheila Kiscaden
Rep. Ruth Johnson
Rep. Barb Goodwin
Rep. Keith Ellison
Rep. Katie Sieben
Rep. Dan Larson
Rep. Matt Entenza - St. Paul

Ones that haven't announced anyway but there seem to be enough rumors to at least watch:

Rep. Irv Anderson
Rep. Marty Seifert
Rep. Maxine Penas

Ray Vandeveer (R) is running for Bachmann's Senate seat. Rep. Doug Meslow (R) announced his retirement. And I'm pretty sure Rep. Maxine Penas (R - 1A) is retiring, as well.

That, and Rep. Andy Westerberg is a Republican.

Regardless of whether she secures the DFL endorsement for governor, Becky Lourey will not be back in the Senate, unless she's willing to run against the DFL-endorsed candidate, her son Tony, in a primary.

I've not heard Penas' name but I'll check it out. I thought I had Vandeveer up there. I wish I'd paid more attention to his votes between the time the voting opened and closed on a bill up there; I'm pretty sure he would be the league leader in switching at the last minute. Gotta be a yarn there.

There are also rumors flying around about Pariseau and Frederickson retiring in the Senate.

Pariseau missed a few votes of late. I understand there's an illness in the family.

Pariseau's husband passed away days before the end of session. He was ill for a period of time.

I'm pretty sure Shelia Kiscaden was most recently elected as an Independence party candidate after originally winning her seat as a Republican. Technically, then, she was a DFL candidate for lt. gov, but she's retiring as an IP Senator.
