Bread & butter vs Table Crumbs

According to the Institute for International Economics, reporting to the Senate Finance Committee on March 29, 2006 "The US global merchandise trade and current account deficits hit annual rates of $900 billion in the fourth quarter of 2005, which amounted to 7 percent of US GDP, twice the previous record of the mid-1980s (as a result of which the dollar declined by 50 percent over the three-year period 1985–87)." The deficits could reach annual rates of $1 trillion within the next year or so.

Realizing we had an approximate $250 billion surplus when President Bush took office, It appears it is time to talk about more than just "pro-life" issues (which I agree with) if you want to be a "National Leader"

The United States has enabled the rest of the world to prosper greatly. That is a decent thing to do, but not to the demise of our own "American middle class". Our long history of allowing Japan, China (and everyone else in the world) to artificially devalue their currency against our dollars is the single biggest reason we are broke.

These are serious times and they require serious people to do the right thing for the preservation of our Country. With Republicans having sway over the Executive, Senate and the House, we firmly believed much could be accomplished these past 5 years. They were the CEO party and they would get things done efficiently and effectively.

My question, Senator Bachmann; what is your defined position on monetary exchange rates with our Trading partners? Secondly,
Realizing American Controlled Multi-National Corporations (Goldman-Sachs, GM, et al) benefit on either side of the Ocean, how would you then proceed to our US citizens benefit?
