MPR's Michael Caputo invites you to an online forum on the oversight of teenage drivers. Join him at 4:30 p.m. CT on MPRNewsQ:
Typically after accidents like the one that claimed six lives in Cambridge, most of them teenagers, we wonder what to do to prevent this from happening again. Some will suggest public policy changes to laws that govern licensing teenagers to drive. Others say that improving education and enforcement of existing laws are needed.
There are those who will look to the schools. And many will say that it's really all up to parents to better supervise teens who are getting behind the wheel. This, of course, is prom season, which will only heighten the issue.
What can citizens do about it? Discuss the options by joining the online chat: What do we do to improve oversight of teenage drivers?
Guests Lisa Kons from the Minnesota Network of Employers for Traffic Safety and Natalie Hayford, an Anoka student and member of the local SADD chapter will answer questions and discuss your experiences and ideas on how to increase teen driver safety.
