Memories of mom
Posted at 10:36 AM on May 11, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler
While some of us are celebrating that other holiday, the Minnesota fishing opener, others are taking our mothers to brunch. For those who lost their mom's, this can be a good day for memories. Gather regular Jim G. wrote an open "Happy Mother's Day" article for his (now deceased) mom. He gave us some background:
I grew up in the "Leave it to Beaver" era. My mother was a housewife. I can hardly picture her without her wearing an apron. It may be hard for a lot of you to understand, but this was post WW II. People thought that "Rosie the Riveter" would go back home & let the returning G.I.'s take over the jobs.In other words, it was the start of the women's movement.
I won't spoil the story for you, you can read it yourself.
