As I read that Gov. Pawlenty proposed a new state veterans cemetery near Jay Cooke State Park (just south of Duluth) I couldn't shake the feeling mpr.org had some frame of reference. A search showed that in 2002 we reported Minnesota's veterans' cemeteries were running out of room.
So it seems we need more space for veteran burials. Join our online discussion to share what you think about the proposal. Should other options be considered? What would you suggest?
If the legislature approves a land transfer for the cemetery plans, I wonder if the Duluth Combined Honor Guard (see how John Marshall saved the last salute) will be summoned for burials.
