Send a Classical Love Note today

Posted at 8:03 AM on February 14, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler

Whether you delight in Valentine's day or deplore it, you can still enjoy some vital classical music. MPR's classical music staff selected their favorite romantic songs for you to send to loved ones. You can send an e-card with a personal message that aligns with your choice of a song. They vary from "Our Love Is Here to Stay" by Gershwin to the Balcony Scene from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet."

It isn't too late to send your message as a small romantic (or simply sweet) gesture. Better yet, both you and your recipient will be entered to win a giveaway. (See the official rules for more details.) The prize is fresh flowers delivered every month for a year!

More music for love... or not.

As if Classical Love Notes aren't enough, The Current delivers some love songs. Not just silly love songs, but in fact the "greatest Valentine's Day songs of all time" as recommended by you.

DJ Mark Wheat will share the love from 7 p.m. - midnight. Meanwhile, online, Danny Sigelman will be playing "greatest break-up songs of all time," if that suits you better.
