WCCO news director moving on
Posted at 12:24 PM on September 5, 2007 by Melanie Sommer
This news today from our friends in television news: WCCO-TV news director Jeff Kiernan is leaving the Twin Cities to become news director of WBZ-TV in Boston. Kiernan has been WCCO's news director for nearly four years. He starts his new job on Sept. 24.
Before joining WCCO, Kiernan was news director for eight years at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee. WCCO will start an immediate search for his successor, the station said in a news release Wednesday.
There's a connection between the Twin Cities market and WBZ. The Boston station's general manager is Ed Piette, who used to be the GM at 'CCO. And former KARE-11 meteorologist Ken Barlow also works there.
