Midmorning: Flight delays and cluster bombs

Posted at 7:32 AM on June 27, 2007 by Bill Wareham

Northwest Airlines isn't the only carrier to experience more cancellations and especially delays. At 9 a.m., Midmorning guests have suggestions for business and vacationing passengers when flights don't leave when expected. Marianne Combs sits in for Kerri Miller, and her guests are Kevin Mitchell, chairman of the Business Travel Coalition; Andrew Thomas, a marketing professor from the University of Akron and the author of Aviation Insecurity; and Wade Blaufuss, spokesman for the pilots union for Northwest Airlines.

At 10 a.m., Midmorning examines an often overlooked weapon of war and its devastating impact on children. Marianne's guest is Virgil Wiebe, a professor of law at St. Thomas University. As a consultant to the Mennonite Central Committee he has attended United Nations conferences on landmines and conventional weapons, and has addressed diplomats on international humanitarian law matters. He also serves on the board of directors of Mines Advisory Group America.
