Midday: State's budget surplus and Coontz on marriage

At 11 a.m., key lawmakers who hold the financial purse-strings will be Gary Eichten's guests on Midday to talk about the new state revenue forecast. (It's anticipated to show a billion dollar surplus). Guests are state Senate Finance Committee chair Dick Cohen, DFL-St. Paul, and state House Taxes Committee Chair Ann Lenczewski, DFL-Bloomington.

At noon, a Twin Cities speech by historian Stephanie Coontz about marriage. She's the author of Marriage, a History: From Obedience to Intimacy, or How Love Conquered Marriage." Coontz spoke recently at Century College in White Bear Lake.
