On ATC: Obama, timber prices and candidate statements

Posted at 5:04 PM on October 30, 2006 by Bill Wareham

Illinois Sen. Barak Obama was in the Twin Cities and Rochester today, for a book-signing and political rally, respectively. Two years before the presidential election Obama is being talked about as a potential contender. MPR's Brandt Williams gauged his popularity at today's book-signing (befitting a rock star more than a politician Brandt reports on All Things Considered).

MPR's Bob Kelleher reports that the state's timber industry is in crisis, with hundreds of recent layoffs causing nervousness throughout northern Minnesota.

And today we begin our rotation of three-minute statements from all candidates for governor and the U.S. Senate.
