Busy news day ahead

Posted at 10:14 AM on August 22, 2006 by Bill Wareham

Lots of stuff happening today:

President Bush visits the Twin Cities, attending a public forum on health care and a private political fundraiser afterward. We'll have live coverage on MPR News stations of the public event, scheduled for 2:30, followed by reports on All Things Considered and Morning Edition.

Later today, the Hennepin County Board holds public hearings on the new Twins ballpark that's in the works. If nothing else, we should find out whether opponents of the ballpark have any steam left after approval of the proposal earlier this year at the Legislature. MPR's Brandt Williams will be on hand.

Also, we're tracking Supreme Court hearings on a dispute over whether U.S. Rep. Gil Gutknecht properly submitted petitions to get on the November ballot.
