We're keeping an eye on...

It looks like Minnesota National Guard troops will be heading to the U.S.-Mexican border after all. When President Bush announced plans for Guard support on the border in May, Minnesota National Guard Adjutant Gen. Larry Shellito said: "I would probably say Minnesota would not be on the top of any deployed list." Now, Shellito and Gov. Pawlenty have an afternoon news conference scheduled to discuss the deployment. Stay tuned to MPR News stations this afternoon for details.
On All Things Considered this afternoon Dan Gunderson will report on the impact of our recent dry weather. (I don't expect this to be part of his report, but I've discovered that on a hard, dry softball field a ball will roll forever if you don't knock it down first.)
North Korea's missile test and the subsequent response from U.S. and world leaders is, of course, one of today's top stories. And MPR's Kerri Miller will discuss the international showdown on tomorrow's Midmorning program. As always, we invite you to be part of that discussion.
