You can't kill the words that last forever

Daniel Pearl, the reporter, uttered these words 11 years ago today, just before he was beheaded by the terrorists who kidnapped him.

"My father is Jewish. My mother is Jewish. I am Jewish."

Those words, are inscribed on the headstone of Ed Koch, who died this morning.

Though I don't know much about Ed Koch beyond what I've read, and never lived in New York, I have the utmost respect for anyone who can be a successful mayor of one of the world's great and dynamic cities. (Except for Rudy.) But especially for Koch who steered the City thru one of its most bleak times. The mysteries surrounding his personal life make his story all the more interesting.
