Lindsey Vonn was hurt today in a crash in Austria...

Looks bad, but the way she got to the hospital looks pretty harrowing as well. First the helicopter picked her up.

And that it flew her and her rescuers miles to the hospital...

Early reports are ACL injury. Hoping for a full Adrian Peterson-like recovery for Sochi 2014!

I was part of a mountain rescue first-hand, it was an amazing experience. If there isn't a hospital close by they usually drop down to a safe landing place & put the patient in the helicopter. The mountain rescue guys start an IV & give the patient a sedative before they lift them off. They are highly trained professionals, it is incredible to watch!
