Itchy trigger fingers in California

The manhunt for a murderous Los Angeles cop on a killing spree continues in California.

More than 100 officers from various agencies were searching for Christopher Dorner in the Big Bear Lake region of the San Bernardino Mountains east of Los Angeles, according to the Associated Press.

It's unclear who presents a greater risk to the average person on the street, however: Dorner or some of the police looking for him:

The coolest astronaut

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield may be close to the coolest person ever to go into space.

Hadfield, who is the next commander on the International Space Station, posts streams of pictures on his Facebook and Twitter page (ignoring requests for shots of Minnesota, but we're letting that slide for now), conducted a live chat with Captain Kirk this week, and now has joined the group Barenaked Ladies.

"Chris and I were able to write a song together while he was training in Russia for the mission that he's currently on and then we were able to record the song with him in space. It's really incredible when you think about it," Barenaked Ladies Ed Robertson told CBC News.

Ode to ice

There's nothing wrong with this country that strapping a few more kids in like horses to help cut ice off a lake won't cure.

The ice is stored in the shed and then in July, they'll open it up and enjoy the ice...

... that's a long route to take to get to the point: A few months from now, we'll long for that which will be going on outside this weekend.

Blizzard envy

You probably know by now that cold, white death is raining down upon the northeast where a winter blizzard -- it's funny how those things always seem to happen in the winter -- is hitting.

Admit it, Minnesota, we're all feeling a little jealous over not having the excitement...
