The art of overcoming the odds

Posted at 9:41 AM on January 19, 2013 by Bob Collins (1 Comments)

Today's must-read comes from the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, which profiles high-schooler Jake Lindamood. His mother has waged and lost a lifelong battle with addition addiction, his father, the stability in his son's life, died of lung cancer, his college fund was drained by his mother, he was sent to foster care under the care of a couple who viewed him as extra money. He was adopted by another family member who moved to South Dakota.

The kid has turned out OK.

Has his mother really had a lifelong battle with addition (kind of explained by the draining of his college fund) or with addiction? :)
