Gov. Dayton's budget, shootings in Texas, how people have changed their mind on immigration, and what kept Al Green from the inauguration.
Here's today's news conversation with Mary Lucia of The Current.
Dear Current
After listening to the news headlines with Mary Lucia and Bob Collins on today’s program, I feel compelled to comment on Bills contribution. This is not the first time I’ve though to myself that this man reminds me of listening to FOX news; he obviously has his opinion and is not afraid to share it. However after a while, it just becomes a bit awkward. His comment on school cancelations due to the cold weather and why he couldn’t understand it…”because 99% of people in his neighbor hood drive their kids to school in SUVs”, really disappointed me. As a health care worker downtown MPLS, I see first hand every day that life obviously is not so convenient for 99% of the population…at least the population we serve. I would certainly hope that the majority of the Currents listening audience are not as ignorant as one of its radio hosts. As a long time fan of the Currents work, I commend you on the fantastic contribution you make to the twin cities and the world of radio as we know it. It’s just disappointing to see you support someone’s opinions that obviously don’t seem to fit.

Bill told me to share this with you.
David-
Not to defend Bob when he hasn't asked anyone to, but I think your comment is a poor one. Bob (who I think you mean when you say "Bill") said IMMEDIATELY BEFORE his comment about "99 percent of the kids in his neighborhood" that schools are canceled when "kids have to stand out for the bus because not everyone has someone with an SUV to take them to school, unlike..." He in fact is acknowledging EXACTLY what you are accusing him of ignoring.
I kind of take offense (again, a silly thing for me to do on Bob's behalf) at you comparing Bob to Fox News. His integrity as a journalist, and not reporting with any sort of idealogical agenda (whether lib or cons) is one of the reasons I read NewsCut daily and why I hold Bob in higher regard than a lot of people involved in news media today. Your comment leads me to believe you're not a regular reader of his work, and I think you do yourself a disservice in writing off someone in such a way without doing your research.
Bob please delete my comment if you feel it's not appropriate. I also wanted to say thanks for posting these audio bits w Mary again. I'm on the train when it's broadcast live so I never get to hear them and it's one of my favorite parts of the day.
Your comment was better than mine, Bob.
Great report today, as usual, Bob. I loved the dog story and video, too. And get well to Smudge!
Yes. Thank for posting your chat!
