Nothing says "let's have an intelligent discussion about the science of climate change" like a series of billboards supporting your view featuring mass murderers and tyrants.
The Heartland Institute has purchased several billboards featuring Ted Kaczynski, Charles Manson, and Fidel Castro, and is considering more featuring Osama bin Laden.
"These rogues and villains were chosen because they made public statements about how man-made global warming is a crisis and how mankind must take immediate and drastic actions to stop it," the group says on its website.
Just so long as it's legal to put up billboards with pictures of the Koch brothers....
Clear Channel owns almost all the billboards in this country, and during non-election cycles routinely refuses to run political messages they disagree with. In the real world, billboard advertising is dominated by the scruples-free right.
So basically, they're saying "Hey this guy was bad and said X so X must be bad, too."
By that logic, if Reagan said it was A-OK to raise taxes on the wealthy, then, according to the Heartland Institute, it must be a good idea, right? Right?
Billboards and brutish politics - A match made in hell.
Maybe they just got tired of being compared to Hitler...
I bet they all also believed the world was round... where's that billboard?
So... if even crazy despots and murders believe in it, it must be true?
I bet Ted Kaczynski believes in gravity too - what a crackpot!
Mark - Thanks for the info.
As usual, follow the money. It might be interesting to follow it through The Heartland Institute.
"...Maybe they just got tired of being compared to Hitler..."
What an idiotic statement.
No-one is comparing the Heartland Institute to Hitler. You have learned nothing from this shamefull hate-campaigning by the fossil fuel shills.
Vote Liberal or your kids will die in a CO2 hell? NOW who's the neocon eh?
We are the fear mongering neocons now and condemning the voter's kids to the greenhouse gas ovens will keep us out of power forever. The world has moved on from the CO2 legal exaggeration. Pollution is real but death for my kids from the CO2 mistake is not real and this planet lover is happy, not disappointed a crisis was averted.
