A first first kiss

Posted at 2:04 PM on December 21, 2011 by Bob Collins (3 Comments)

It's a tradition on some Navy ships that when a ship returns to port, one sailor gets the honor of being the first person to kiss a waiting family member or friend.

This week, the Virginia Pilot newspaper reports, the honor went to a lesbian for the first time.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta bought 50 tickets in the raffle. Her girlfriend of two years, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell, was waiting when she crossed the brow, the paper said.

Kat - thanks for your comment.

Although I have homosexual friends and family and vote right and all of that stuff, a big part of me is always leaping at the opportunity to write something witty - sometimes the consequences be damned.

Your sincerity made me think about the potential consequences of trying to be funny about something that is serious for so many good people.

Now you got me crying. :-)
