Has it really been 20 years?

I was sitting on a coach in my home in the woods of the Berkshires of Massachusetts. My wife had already gone to bed, but she wasn't the type of baseball fan for me to wake up to scream, "you're not going to believe this!", which I wanted to do several times. So I watched it alone.

A few months later, I was a Minnesotan, and the Twins haven't come close to a World Series since.

Sorry about that, Minnesota.

20 years ago?!? Yikes.

I was watching the game with a bunch of journalist pals in El Salvador. Some bombs and machine gun fire went off not far away.

Our normal reaction would be to go find the action, which we lived ( and sometimes died) for.

This time we all looked at each other, laughed, and cracked open another round of beers.

Thanks for catalyzing that memory, Bob.

20 years ago, I was watching it with my 4 and 6 year olds. The 6 is now 26 and I am a grandfather. They are adults now, and don't really remeber the World Series. They are too young to remember when the Twins had much post season success.

I think a team needs to be in a World Series once every couple decades just to convince the fan base that it is possible.

Mark Rosen had the 20 year look back last night as he discussed the rain cancelled game 6 of this year. Game 6 provides perhaps my favorite call of all time. The Jack Buck's call of the Puckett home run that ends "and we'll see you tomorrow night."

We were fortunate in 1991 that a great game 6 was followed by an equally great game 7. Five years earlier as a transplant from NY I watched the Mets comeback against the Red Sox (sorry Red Sox fans). In that series everyone remembers Bill Buckner in game 6. Nobody remembers (me included) much about game 7

Sorry about what? That when I was 11-years-old, my baseball team made memories that will be with me my whole life?

We're a mid-market team in flyover country... I'd love to see the Twins win other championship, but I try to keep my expectations reasonable. And I'll always remember touching Kirby's hand during the ticker-tape parade.

// Sorry about what?

That when I moved here you stopped going to the World Series. It's not a coincidence.

Some teams have the Curse of the Bambino or the Curse of Rocky Colavito, we have the Curse of Bob Collins.

Personally, I'll take NewsCut over the twinks any day.
