A high-tech pushback is underway against the New York City police officer who pepper sprayed a group of people who were protesting in the city's financial district over the weekend.
One of the photographers who filmed the scene identified the officer by his name badge. Then the group, "Anonymous," d0x'd the officer -- seeking out personal information online and then spreading it:
As we watched your officers kettle innocent women, we observed you barberically pepper spray wildly into the group of kettled women. We were shocked and disgusted by your behavior. You know who the innocent women were, now they will have the chance to know who you are. Before you commit atrocities against innocent people, think twice. WE ARE WATCHING!!! Expect Us!
"Anonymous" provided employment data, but also provided "possible" home addresses as well as the names of "possible relatives."
This could certainly go badly.
While I commend the outing of the officer in question, it's irritating to see speculative data attached to him. Obviously, tsk-tsking a 'group' like Anonymous is an utter waste of time, as they have long shown that they don't have a strong moral capacity within them.
Nevertheless, one would hope that others would exercise discretion when using this information.
Yikes. And right after I make a semi-tongue in cheek comment about the fate of this kind of cop "when the revolution comes..."
The problem with violence is that it begets more violence, and more innocent people always end up getting hurt.
The NYPD should come down hard on this jerk publicly and IMMEDIATELY so that no more innocent people are hurt.
The authorities use computers to keep tabs on us these days. We should not be surprised when the weapon gets turned against them now and then.
Still, two wrongs don't make a right ... but three lefts do. Sorry.
One would only hope that the recriminations would be non-violent and not violate property laws. I would say that walking in front of the officers home with a placard that reads "Ted pepper sprays defenseless and innocent women" each Sunday afternoon until he publicly apologizes and makes amends would be a good approach. As stated last week public discussion of poor choices will increase the psychic costs of doing dumb things.

Are you referring to geometry or pugilism?
RoboCop. Problem solved. Next.
I wonder if someone will try "swatting" him?
And, "swatting" for the uninitiated, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swatting

I think I saw something somewhere that this guy is still pending charges in MN for the RNC...but it might have been on facebook, so that could mean anything, including that I was reading a post that I have no idea when it was posted...
The Guardian is reporting deputy inspector Bologna is facing legal action regarding his actions during the 2004 RNC convention in NYC.
