Not since Garrison Keillor and Jesse Ventura went at it has the world seen a politician vs. elitist artist fray like the one developing between Rep. Matt Dean and author Neil Gaiman. As I wrote on 5x8 this morning, Rep. Dean called Gaiman a "pencil neck weasel" for accepting Legacy Amendment money to give a speech at the Stillwater library.
Gaiman "tweets" back that Dean is a twit...
He doesn't stop there...

Nice to see that the Majority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives (or one of his staff) has the time for this garbage at taxpayer expense.
The sick part is that the twit got his way, and the "you have to apply before we give you money, even though there were specific allocations in the original amendment that the voters stood up for" change went through.
Ugh.
Ridiculous.
I forgot to add that the header for this particular post has a rather Monty Python-esque ring to it.
Here we go again. Gaiman very articulately explained the Stillwater speaking fee last year on his blog. (He asks for outrageous fees because, like all real authors, he'd rather stay home and write; Stillwater had to spend the money or lose it; Gaiman gave his share away to two charities.) I haven't seen him since the mid-90s, but at that time he was neither pencil-necked nor a weasel.
Besides, since when should anyone have to be subjected to that kind of hateful bullying as part of a political discussion? I heard Dean explaining his despicable actions earlier and he sounded like the same 10-year-old that made the original hateful remarks.
You can tell this is a liberal point of view on this website.

Matt Dean is right! Gaiman is taking money from Minnesota to fund Scientology which is being investigated for Human Trafficking. Gaiman is worse than a pencil necked weasel, he's a cult member and the only charity Gaiman donates to is SCIENTOLOGY!

The Purification Rundown Vitamins.Gaiman's two sisters, Claire Edwards and Lizzie Calciole are not just high-ranking Scientologists, they are the head of RECRUITING and the head of Wealden House, the Scientology stronghold in East Grinstead. These two
cannot associate with Neil unless he is in good standing.
The previous post is completely false. Neil Gaiman is not a Scientologist. He has answered this question numerous times, most recently in a BBC interview in 2010.
