Closure and the FBI poster

A Midmorning caller, who says her sister died at the Pentagon on 9/11, called the program today to say the death of Osama bin Laden doesn't provide the closure that the experts say it should be bringing to the families of 9/11 victims.

"Catherine" says it still bothers her that something was missing from the FBI's "wanted" poster for bin Laden: A mention of 9/11:

"I would not be concerned," John Radsan, a professor of law and director of the National Security Forum at William Mitchell College of Law. He said the upcoming trial of alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four accused accomplices, will provide plenty of proof that al-Qaeda was responsible for 9/11.

For what it's worth, the FBI updated its poster today.

It's strange I can't remember a day with as much excitement in the air.

Dear BJ -

Where are you? Pakistan? I'm within 20 miles of both a naval base and a marine base, and nobody is excited. People are concerned for their buddies in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Re the fbi poster not mentioning 9/11. Obama denied responsibility for the attack, and was visibly surprised (yes, pleased) when told during an interview.

I presume you meant Osama

Dear Bob -

Ouch.

B, S - In the end, it's all BS, isn't it.

Hey, if I made an extra contribution to MPR earmarked for you, could you copyedit for me? It's not like you're doing anything else, right? :-)

Perhaps I got it wrong because I had just read this: http://www.borowitzreport.com/2011/05/02/2012-election-cancelled/

You must have gotten wind of the troops being sent home from Iraq, Afghanistan...Korea?

It would be logical, right? Bin Laden is gone (although my son insists that it was really an evil twin Ben Laden who did all the nasty things) Sadam is gone and a couple handfuls of other bad cards are gone and the guy who started this whole mess-George Bush -is gone. There are no weapons of mass destruction. So what's left? Why would we have an interest in those countries or others anymore?

Jim, would you be the same Jim Shapiro who had a great letter to the editor in the StarTribune this morning? If so, nice work!

Dear Momkat -

Thanks, but Bob deserves the real credit. I simply used his typically impeccable research.

I didn't site Bob because of possible conflict of interest issues for him.

(While they should be commended for printing the letter, the strib misprinted a stat and toned down/edited/censured my wording considerably. Apparently, one of my favorite descriptors - moron - is not one of their favorites :-)

Would've been no conflict of interest. But I doubt the Strib would've printed a letter had it correctly cited the source of the statistics.

Dear Bob -

Is that a green light to use your name ( no, not in vain :-) when communicating with other Minnesota media outlets?
