Hosni Mubarak is stepping down, according to some unconfirmed reports. He'll speak to his nation soon and we'll find out.
Al Jazeera has live video from Cairo.
MSNBC has also been providing this feed, which has been up and down:
Given all the problems in Egypt, getting Mubarak out of office may end up being the easy part. There's still the matter of wrestling control of the country from its military (Egyptian presidents have come directly from the military since the revolution in the 1950s) and finding jobs for people.
How far divorced from reality must Mubarak be to think that the people who want him out of office would accept his former head of the secret police in his place? And why would anyone quietly accept his negotiating with the Muslim Brotherhood, who had nothing whatsoever to do with the revolt? Their constitution requires an election within 60 days, so let's get it going.
So now we've had THE SPEECH. And I repeat--just how far out of touch with reality is this man?
