I just read a piece on the Brookings Institute website titled "Don't Fear Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood" that reflects a similar sentiments as articles found in The Daily Beast and elsewhere.

Call me a pessimist but I recall similar gushings during the Iranian Revolution in 1978. Most notably the easily deluded Michel Foucault heralding ''the perfectly unified collective will'' of the Iranian people.

Well, I hope we have matured since then. At least some of us.

The only thing we can say for certain is that Egypt is now "jump ball" and given the history of similar upheavals in the past quarter century, it will take decades to mature into anything stable - if then.
