Attention, shoppers: Security alert in Aisle 6

Posted at 11:48 AM on December 16, 2010 by Eric Ringham (14 Comments)

We could devote some time and space to an exploration of context and whatnot, but sometimes it's better just to contemplate the weirdness. Attention, Walmart shoppers:

Happy holidays.

Am I missing something? Has a known terrorist organization made a threat against Wal-Mart?

We're always under attack. Fear. Fear. Fear. Being suspicious all the time is the only way to be safe and secure.

BTW, I think I saw a terrorist in ladies underwear.

Was this for public consumption or was it part of a store staff training session? I wonder if there are similar spots for other large retailers?

Don't suspect a friend--turn him in!

Well, I HAVE seen "suspicious activity" at Wal-Mart.

I'm not liking the United States Federal Government doing commercials but if that's what it takes to balance the budget, then I hope they score some more big accounts like Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Target and General Mills.

OH, that's right! The terrorist attacks of 9/11 occurred because Walmart shoppers didn't report seeing two suspicious planes flying toward the Twin Towers!! I remember now!

This Wal-mart message is for public consumption, not just for internal use. It will play on the digital screens inside Wal-mart stores in more than 500 locations by the end of the month. It's part of Homeland Security's "See Something, Say Something" campaign.

I've not seen any news that other individual retailers are participating in this, although the Mall of America reportedly is participating.

I cannot believe that the Obama administration actually has a cabinet member worse than those in Bush's cabinet!

I think I need to give up news again...

Who has'nt seen weird or suspicious activity at Wallmart?

Scary thought - sounds to me like history repeating itself. Spy on your neighbor and turn them in before they turn you in. Remember WWII and the Salem Witch Trials - I'm sure there are more examples.

We live 40 miles from the nearest Walmart. Is my family going to die? Is there an anti-terrorist kit I can purchase at Walmart? For Safety and Security in the entire country should we make it manditory for a Walmart manager to live in every town. I'm so scared!!!!
