A military for gays

It's OK now to proclaim "I'm gay" when you walk into the military recruitment office. If you're intending to do that, let me know. I'd like to be there. Today, those offices are getting the word from the Pentagon that it's OK to enlist openly gay people into the military, even though the Obama administration is appealing a federal judge's ruling that bans the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

That's one of the stories on today's news conversation with The Current's Mary Lucia.

A license to kill and die for the economic interests that control one's government should be granted to everyone - regardless of race, creed, age, gender, gender preference, or level of intellectual, moral and ethical awareness.

I can't help but think of this scene from the movie" Stripes" when I heard this story:

Recruiter: Now, are either of you homosexuals?
Murray: [Murray and Ramis look at each other nervously] You mean, like, flaming, or...
Recruiter: Well, it's a standard question we have to ask.
Ramis: No, we're not homosexual, but we are *willing to learn*.
Murray: Yeah, would they send us someplace special?
Recruiter: I guess that's "no" on both.
