Citizen journalism = trust

MPR NewsQ, like most other news web sites, encourages the audience to submit images of news events and interesting Minnesota scenes. But it increases the responsibility of editors to check and doublecheck. Just ask KGO TV, which covered the big gas explosion in San Bruno, Calif., late last week.

One of the images the audience submitted -- and one that was used by the web site -- was actually an image from the TV series, "Lost." Whoops.

By the way, have you explored Minnesota Scenes on the Minnesota Today site yet? No TV images are included.
