What a little rain can do

Posted at 1:05 PM on June 29, 2010 by Eric Ringham (2 Comments)

Mopping up from the storms: The cars are half empty, and the falls are half full.

Xcel Energy reports that everybody who lost power in the weekend storms that hit the Twin Cities had service restored by Monday afternoon. Which is a good thing, because I need electricity to power the fans that I keep going in my car all night long, trying to evaporate the moisture left over from the Saturday night monsoon. Ugh.

Two other bright spots: While gathering info on the power outages, I stumbled across Xcel's handy power outage map. The few outages visible on the map are routine, according to an Xcel spokeswoman. Also, if you haven't visited Minnehaha Falls in a while, this is a good time. Here's how the falls looked at about 8:30 this morning:

The falls should be flowing well for a while. When I ran by the creek on Sunday it was as high as I've seen it in years.
