New page in BP ad campaign

BP has started a new ad campaign on television, to try to repair its image. See if you can find any actual images of oil after the 4-second mark:

The company used an ad agency operated by Republican and Democrat marketing experts who have some experience in putting lipstick on things.

Not surprisingly, comments have been disabled on the YouTube page hosting the ad.

But some people don't need words...

This disaster is such a complex one. Not in the way that it can be fixed, but in the way that the media is covering it. I find myself confused more and more each time i read a report on the oil spill. First it was about how many gallons were spilling; now it seems that I'm confused as to whether or not BP is doing all that it can do. Or that our government is doing all that it can do. I'm an Obama supporter, but all I hear that the government is doing is becoming 'furious'. Granted, there is a hold on any off shore drilling, which is good, but let me know that the nation's top minds are on top of this situation. That everything that can possibly be done is being done!

It's extremely disheartening to see this happening. The raw footage that you posted earlier was heartbreaking.

I think Paul Huttner said it best "I'm beginning to find what we are witnessing in the Gulf surreal and incomprehensible".

In school the one thing, the only thing, I took out of my marketing class was “nothing kills a bad product faster than good advertising”.

That BP ad makes me ALMOST as sick as the images of birds drowning in crude oil. What an ugly, cruel, terrifying and above all unnecessary death.

In 1974, with the Safe Drinking Water Act, we recognized we all drink and swim in the stuff we dump into rivers and streams. I think everyone knows we ALL live in the filth we spew into the environment (whether we spill it or burn it in the fashion intended). How do we get leaders elected who will take the long-term action necessary to protect us and world in which we live?

The price we are going to pay for our oil addition is the Gulf of Mexico.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

Regarding the Steven Seagal reference you dropped on the 4:20 news break with Mary Lucia:

The movie was apparently "On Deadly Ground" and you are EXACTLY right. Tony Hayward and Michael Caine will now forever be linked in my mind. Thanks?
